Cynthia Davis - HIV/AIDS Expert Consultant

team/cynthia.png Cynthia Davis is an Assistant Professor and Program Director in the Department of Family Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. Drew University is the research and teaching arm of Martin Luther King, Jr. General Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Ms. Davis completed her master’s level field placement assignment at the King/Drew Medical Center from 1980 to 1981. Ms.Davis began her professional career working as the Program Director of the Family Life Information and Education Project at the American Indian Free Clinic in Compton, California and worked there from 1983 to 1984.

Ms. Davis was instrumental in advocating for the development of the first community-based HIV/AIDS clinic targeting at risk, low-income ethnic minority women in Los Angeles County. This HIV/AIDS early intervention and treatment clinic was opened with Ryan White Care Act funding in 1991 at T.H.E. Clinic in South Central Los Angeles. This clinic currently serves over 400 HIV positive low-income women.

Working in collaboration with AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Ms. Davis was instrumental in the development of the first AIDS hospice in South Central Los Angeles, the Carl Bean AIDS Care Center, which opened in 1991.She has been a board member of the AHF(AIDS Health Foundation) in America for 17 years.

She has dedicated her life to prevention, and we are honoured to have her as our consultant.
