Free Thru-Play™/Playground Initiative - First Nation Cultural Centre & Society

Free Thru-Play™ - Formed this early theoretical and practical basis for the link between the importance of recreation as a young child and the factors experienced later as a youth.

Research has found that playgrounds are essential to not only physical strength, but mental strength as well. Playgrounds help develop social, emotional and cognitive skills. Children however, need more then the traditional playground. They need playgrounds that challenge their skills and provide opportunities to learn new ones.

Furthermore, play directly affects our physical, mental, emotional, and social well being. Through play, we are able to define who we are and who we want to be. We are able to improve our physical fitness, build skills, work on problem solving, practice communication, set goals, share expectations, understand roles, and develop friendships.

'Experience the future' can be the coined phrase to explain the First Nation Cultural Center & Society, Free Thru-Play™ playground initiative.
