What Can a Penny buy nowadays? - Pennies from heaven

The Pennies from Heaven program will allow each child in school systems all over the world to give 2 pennies to the children 1 penny to the children in Lesotho, Southern Africa and the other penny for children in Germany that are HIV/AIDS orphans.

The children will contribute each year of their school life. They can give more than a penny if they wish. If the child is unable to give a penny then the school system in their home town will pay his or her contribution. The pennies will be collected on World Aids Day Dec. 1st of each year. The money will be used to buy clothes and bicycles once a year at Christmastime.

Purpose:

This is being done to teach children at an early age that the power of the individual is great and that one child/$1/s actions have an enormous and direct effect on others. We hope that what starts as children helping children will create later generations of adults helping adults. One person CAN start a change in the world as we have been shown through the lives of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa.
